The Solar Mate is a mains free lighting kit which is suitable for garden sheds, garages, stables, summerhouses, emergency lighting and anywhere without mains power. The solar panel charges a 12v battery (not supplied – use any car or caravan battery) during the day, which then powers the light at night. Bright sunlight is not necessary for charging to occur – the system will work even with overcast daytime conditions, both in summer and winter.
